Failed to maintain spill control equipment. Several of the petroleum storage spill pallets located in the <br /> outdoor chemical storage area are about 1/4 full of spilled petroleum waste oil. The purpose of a spill <br /> pallet is to catch any spills released from containers and not to store hazardous substance. All facility <br /> communications/ alarm systems, fire protection equipment, spill control equipment, decontamination <br /> equipment shall be tested and maintained as necessary to assure its proper operation in time of <br /> emergency. Correct immediately by removing the hazardous substances from the spill pallets and <br /> handle the substance according to Hazardous Waste regulations, California Code of Regulations, Title <br /> 22. <br /> Submit to SJC EHD within 30 days (06/13/11): <br /> 1. one copy of the completed "Return to Compliance Certification" form <br /> 2. a written corrective action statement on the above violation <br /> Notes: <br /> - provided free training class schedule. Recommended course: Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste <br /> Management course <br /> - In 2010 year, facility generated approximately 175 gallons of used oil and one drum of oily solids. <br /> - A box of Universal Waste fluorescent tubes ready to be disposed. Ensure to retain disposal receipt <br /> onsite for a minimum of 3 years. <br /> - Ensure any spillage from overcharging a lead-acid battery for the electric forklift is properly handled <br /> and disposed. <br /> Ensure to maintain a minimum of 3 years of disposal receipt onsite, ie parts washer. <br /> ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE($122). <br /> THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTION AT ANY TIME AT EHD'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br /> EHD ctor.
