•
Rehor, Mike lIU.
From: Nutan Kabir <nutank@accutest.com>
Sent: Tuesday,June 16,2015 5:30 PM
To: Craig Retzbach
Cc: markdysert@aol.com JUL 0 7 2015
Subject: RE:Accutest Job Number C35684
ENVIRONMENTAL
ucA!Tw r P:Ph PTAAc41T.
Hi Craig,
Here is the response from our Lab Director-
Sample C35684-1 was a thick, viscous, ink-based sample. Due to the nature of the sample, there were organic
constituents that were co-extracted during sample preparation that prevented the sample from concentrating to the routine
volume. This is common to waste characterization and is acceptable by the method. The b qualifier was added to
indicate that the Reporting Limit(RL)was raised due to the dilution caused by the sample final volume. Outside of the
raise in RL, there is no negative impact on data quality. Furthermore, the surrogate recovered low due to the interfering
nature of the sample matrix, and this was noted in the c qualifier. Surrogate failures are also common for waste
characterization due to difficult matrices. Samples may be diluted to remove matrix effect, however, a dilution could raise
the RL too high for regulatory usage. The final qualifier noted with a J value indicates that the reported results are
between the reporting limit(where accuracy and precision are established)and the MDL. The J value is an industry
standard used to indicate that results are in the lowest detectable range of a method and are estimated due to the nature
of accuracy and precision in that range.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Nutan Kabir I Project Manager
■ACCUTEST.
West 12105 Lundy Ave 1 San Jose,CA 95131
Office (408)588-0200,ext 3508 1 Cell(650)390-4460
nutank accutest.com I www.accutest.com
Accutest—'The National Testing Laboratory with Total Performance you can count on"
Your opinion is important to us.
