STATUS <br /> BDS/DSG 12/27/94 ham,y.. .: u< PACES <br /> ---------------- <br /> i Non—exempt I oft <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Under the direction of the Production Superintendent, is responsible for planning, directing and <br /> controlling carton forming operations at the plant. Responsible for achieving and maintaining <br /> the lowest possible production costs and optimum profit levels consistent with customer <br /> requirements, with company policies, with effective employee relations including safety, and <br /> with all applicable governmental regulations. <br /> SPECIFIC DUTIES <br /> ]. Oversees and directs daily carton forming operations (including Straight Line Gluers, S/W <br /> Formers and Padlocker) to ensure customer specifications and delivery dates are met, to <br /> maintain maximum efficiency and quality, and to ensure compliance with sales requirements <br /> and production schedules. <br /> 2. Works closely with supervisory staff to ensure understanding of order/product specifications <br /> and priorities, and to review and control operating and manning requirements and operating <br /> schedules. <br /> 3. Assists supervisory staff in resolving any operational or production problems and in developing <br /> and maintaining a viable skills training program to assure consistently reliable operational <br /> efficiency. <br /> 4. Evaluates daily and weekly operating results (efficiency, scrap levels, costs, etc.), analyzes <br /> variances, and initiates corrective and/or improvement actions accordingly. <br /> 5. Ensures that proper records of department operations and maintenance are generated in <br /> order to accurately assess operational and maintenance requirements; initiates purchase <br /> requisitions and maintenance service accordingly. <br /> 6. Keeps abreast of new production techniques, processes and machinery developments in <br /> the carton forming industry, and recommends to the Production Superintendent changes to improve <br /> quality, efficiency and overall profitability of department operations. <br /> 7. Closes production runs upon their completion and initiates required reporting procedures. <br /> 8. Investigates customer complaints and ensures proper response and that remedial actions <br /> are taken appropriate to department operations. <br /> 9. Directs first line supervisors of carton forming operations and delegates responsibility <br /> and authority as appropriate. Evaluates, develops and coaches subordinates to develop <br /> maximum effectiveness. <br /> 10. Oversees supervisory and leadperson activity and carries out appropriate developmental <br /> actions to insure an effective and reliable supervisory staff. <br /> 11. Assists Production Superintendent in developing departmental operating budgets and any required <br /> capital requests. <br /> 12. ,Monitors department costs and determines and controls department expenditures for <br /> supplies and services. <br /> 13. Constantly strives for cost reduction through specific projects and programs to reduce <br /> scrap and improve methods, efficiency, quality and maintenance. <br /> 14. Oversees department safety program with proper communications and follow up with <br /> supervisory staff to insure safe operating ractices and enforcement of safety rules. <br />
