Responsible for achieving and maintaining <br /> the lowest possible costs of printing operations and optimum profit levels consistent with <br /> customer requirements, with company policies, with effective employee relations including <br /> safety, and with all applicable governmental regulations. <br /> SPEC:IFI C MIT1RS <br /> '1. Directs and maintains daily press operations for an assigned shift to assure niax mum <br /> efficiency and maintenance of necessary quality and inventory levels, consistent with <br /> customer rNuirernents and production schedules. <br /> 2. Reviews daily printing schedules and approves equipment set—ups, speeds and scheduling <br /> required to produce orders and satisfy 5—order and off -line cutting requirements; assigns <br /> sufficient manpower to work stations, <br /> 3. Pays special attention to job jackets for size, style, color, quantity,and special printing <br /> or cutting requirements and ensures proper production. <br /> 4. Maintains proper make—ready information and insures proper start—up procedures. <br /> 5. Trouble--shoots any operational or production problems as necessary, identifying equipment <br /> malfunctions and/or maintenance service requirements, and taking corrective action to <br /> resolve prnhlemrti. <br /> 6. Maintains complete records of shift operations (i.c., equipment perforrnance, supplies used, <br /> inventory levels, etc.) and maintenance activity. Orders parts and supplies accordingly, and <br /> directs and enforces proper maintenance and repair of printing department machinery and <br /> equipment; supplies a priority repair list to Printing Superintendent. <br /> 7. Trains and supervises employees in safe and efficient work methods to assure consistently <br /> reliable operational efficiency (i.e., ensures there are trained employees for key machine <br /> positions including trained "move—ups"for filling absences). <br /> 8. Assigns, directs, assists and counsels hourly shift employees to achieve maximum effec:tivcncss, <br /> delegating responsibility and authority as appropriate. Motivates, develops and disciplirius <br /> employees as appropriate and with guidance and approval from department Superintendent <br /> and Plant Personnel Manager. <br /> 9. Maintains specified efficiencies, scrap levels, minimum product returns, etc. to insure <br /> efficient shift operations. <br /> 14. Regularly seeks ways to reduce scrap and to apply innovative ideas in planning jobs including <br /> ways to run equipment and schedule employees more efficiently. <br /> 1.1. Enforces and comnmunicates safety rules and trains crnployees to insure safe operating <br /> radices• follows up with enz la ee evaluations in written form. <br />
