r <br /> HAZARDOUS WASTE SOURCE REDUCTION EVALUATION REVIEW AND PLAN <br /> REPORTING YEAR - 1990 <br /> Company Dopaco, Inc. <br /> Location: 4545 Qantas Lane <br /> Stockton, California <br /> County _ San Joaquin <br /> SIC: 2057 Business Paper Converting <br /> Major Product: Cartons and Cups for <br /> the Fast Food Industry <br /> Length of Time at Current Location: 4 Years (November 1987 ) <br /> Number of Full-Time Employees 190 <br /> Number of Part-Time Employees : 0 <br /> Number of Seasonal Employees : 12 <br /> Description of Site Operations: See Figure 1 <br /> Dopaco, Inc. manufactures paperboard cartons, paperboard <br /> cups and plastic cup lids for the fast food industry. <br /> Paperboard stock is run through one of three ( 3 ) <br /> rotogravure printing presses where it is printed and cut <br /> according to the final product specifications. Low-VOC <br /> inks are used for printing. Solvents such as isopropyl <br /> alcohol, isobutyl alcohol and normal propyl alcohol are <br /> added to the inks to maintain the proper viscosity and <br /> color for the product. <br /> Volatile organic compounds from the inks and solvents are <br /> collected during the printing process and vented through <br /> a stack to the atmosphere. Scrap paper and off-spec <br /> product are collected, baled and recycled. Waste ink , <br /> solvent and cleaning solvents are combined with glue <br /> waste from the Finishing Department and disposed of as <br /> hazardous waste. Waste oil is recycled. <br /> The printed product is then sent to the Finishing <br /> Department for forming into cartons. Printed product is <br /> fed through forming machines where they are folded and <br /> glued into their final shapes . These finished products <br /> are then packaged for shipment to the customer . <br />
