Stacy Rivera [EH]
From: Cheric Hughes [chughes@taylorfarms.com]
Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2010 10:40 AM
To: Stacy Rivera [EH]
Cc: Jose Moreno; Inez Nunez; Don Gomez
Subject: Taylor Farms Pacific-Valpico Road, Tracy
Importance: High
Attachments: Fremouw.pdf; Lighting Disposal.pdf
Good Morning Ms. Rivera,
I wanted to give you an explanation for the missing manifests for the past 3 years. When you
were inspecting our facility on April 26th, I informed you that we only had 2 barrels, and a few buckets
of oil on hand, as we saw together in the engine room. This was the information I was given and
understood to be true. After your inspection, I went to Gaby, our buyer, to get records for oil removal.
However, we were unable to find these documents. This let me know that there would be more oil
somewhere in the facility. The procedure for removal and tracking of hazardous waste was not
followed by the previous manager, for the last 2 years. Disciplinary action will be taken against our
employees for not following proper waste removal procedure. I instituted a thorough investigation of our
own to find the oil. I found 9 barrels of oil stored in a dark corner of the basement. I immediately
called for pick-up of these barrels. (The receipts are enclosed.) There were also 3 barrels picked up
from our last oil change. We called Fremouw Environmental to come pick up the items because Asbury
did not have the proper equipment to get the oil from the basement.
We have Fremouw Environmental Services and Veolia Environmental Services scheduled on Tuesday
and Friday, to come meet with us and schedule long-term process and goals for hazardous waste
removal.
Included is a receipt for the disposal of more light bulbs that we also found.
hope this addresses each of your concerns.
Please feel free to contact me at 209-321-4022.
Thank you,
Jose Moreno
Plant Engineer
Taylor Farms Pacific
From the desk of:
CJ`GP/m'. 39-
EngineeringAdministrative Assistant
6/17/2010
