The Uniform Manifest contains six copies.All copies must be legible.The generator must always send a copy to the Department of Toxic Substances Control(DTSC)if the waste is generated in California, generated out of state but received by a permitted facility in California,or is imported to or exported from California.The manifest is no longer color coded. The uniform manifest no longer has a dedicated copy specified for generators to submit to DTSC;therefore, generators must make a legible copy of the manifest(photocopy)to submit to DTSC. Box 3000 Sacramento,CA 95812 21 Manifest Exception Reports: If a Generator has not received a signed copy of the manifest from the TSDF after 35'days from the date the waste was shipped,the Generator is required to contact the Transporter and TSDF to determine the status of the waste shipment. If after contact the TSDF and Transporter,the Generator has not received a signed copy of the manifest,the Generator is required to file an Exception Report with DTSC. If the Generator receives a signed copy from the TSDF,then an Exception Report is not necessary. A Gengtrator files an exception report after: • 45 days for Generators X1000 kg/month • 60 days for Generators X1000 kglmonth • 90 days for Generators that shipped by water The Exception Repgrt n the f n : •a legible copy of the manifest,and •a cover letter explaining what the Generator has done to locate the hazardous waste and the results of those efforts. Box 806 Sacramento,CA 95812-0806 httg):LANww.hwts.dtsc.ca.gov/ 3)Significant Discrepancy„ orfs: If a TSDF owner or operator discovers a significant discrepancy in quantity or type of waste on a manifest, the TSDF owner or operator shall attempt to reconcile the discrepancy with the waste generator or transporter(e.g.,with telephone conversations).If the discrepancy Is not resolved within 15 days after receiving the waste,the TSDF owner or operator shall immediately submit to DTSC a letter describing the discrepancy and the attempts made to reconcile it,and a copy of the manifest or shipping paper at issue.
