Permits are required for (1 )
treatment of hazardous wastes, (2) storage of hazardous wastes
for longer than 90 days , or ( 3 ) onsite disposal of hazardous
waste, unless a variance is obtained. You have made the
following statements in support of your request:
o Small quantities of hazardous wastes are stored on-site
longer than 90 days .
0 Wastes are picked up by a Registered Hazardous Waste
Hauler on a regular basis.
Prior to issuance of a variance as requested, the Department of
Health Services will conduct an inspection of your facility
to verify these statements and to determine compliance with other
provisions of the State Hazardous Waste Control Law and
Regulations . The Department will make a final determination
based upon the information you have submitted and the results of
the facility inspection. Until such time as a permit variance is
granted, you may only store hazardous wastes generated onsite at
your facility for 90 days. In the event that a variance is
granted, your company will still be a producer of hazardous waste
and as such has the responsibility of handling those wastes
properly. The State requiremen-s related to management of
hazardous waste are contained in Title 22, Chapter 30 of the
California Administrative Code. Enclosed is an order form should
you need to obtain a copy.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please call Fred
