SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM POLICY/PROCEDURE MANUAL <br /> • TITLE: HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY PLAN POLICY NUMBER 5.06 <br /> PAGE 13 OF 14 <br /> 3.11 Emergency equipment includes the following items <br /> 3.11.4 Fire extinguishers are A, B, C extinguishers and are located throughout <br /> the facility (see Attachment B with list of exact locations.) Extinguishers <br /> are operated by, 1. Holding the extinguisher upright and pulling the ring, <br /> 2. Starting back 8 feet, and aiming nozzle at base of fire, 3. Squeezing the <br /> lever and sweeping side to side until the fire is extinguished. <br /> 3.11.5 The smoke and fire alarm is both manually and electrically operated and <br /> will automatically send an alarm to the appropriate Fire Department. The <br /> automatic sprinkler system is connected to the fire alarm system. The <br /> main panels for the alarm in the Stockton Medical Office is in the front <br /> lobby with an additional panel in Central Plant. For Manteca, the panel is <br /> in the front lobby. In the Tommydon Building in Stockton, the main panel <br /> is in the electrical distribution room with a smaller panel near the security <br /> desk. For list of additional alarms, please see Attachment C. <br /> 3.11.6 An overhead paging system is available in the Stockton and Manteca <br /> • Medical Office Buildings and is located in the Communications <br /> Department with speakers throughout the facility. <br /> 3.11.7 Spill control equipment is located in key areas throughout the clinics <br /> including all pharmacies, ambulatory surgery, radiology, Medicine 1, the <br /> ambulatory surgery center, laboratory, infusion clinic and the EVS storage <br /> room. Contents of the spill kit include: a berm, PPE, absorbent pads, <br /> collection bags, blank hazardous materiel labels, and pens. The procedure <br /> for use is: <br /> • Open Spill Kit, remove safety glasses, gloves, disposable boots, and <br /> put them on. <br /> • Use berm to contain spill as needed. <br /> • Remove absorbent pads and clean up spill. <br /> • Place saturated pads into disposal bags provided. <br /> • Using marking pen and labels provided, clearly indicate the material <br /> that was spilled, providing a s much information as possible from the <br /> container that held the liquid. <br /> • Using the bag closure on the label, tightly secure the bag for safe <br /> disposal. <br /> • Dispose of according to normal procedure. <br /> • <br /> =FresnoRevision dates: 09/12/96, 6/25/98, 3/30/00, 8/1lO1,Stockton revision date 07/22/02, <br /> 3 <br />
