A
double -walled UST used for motor vehicle fuel and constructed of
appropriate materials meets or exceeds the standards of Section
25291(a)(7) and is, therefore, exempt from the continuous
monitoring requirement of Section 25291(a)(6). However, it
should be noted that USTs, regulated under Section 25291(a)(7),
must be monitored using inventory reconciliation and tank
integrity testing.
Amendments to the H&SC require all pipes associated with USTs
installed after be regulated under Section
25291(a)(1) through (6). Therefore, double -walled pipes must be
continuously monitored whether or not the UST contains motor
vehicle fuel, even though a double -walled UST storing, motor
vehicle fuel can be exempt from continuous monitoring.
t
If you have any questions concerning this letter, telephone Paul
Roggensack at (91 324-9496.
S;1nrely'
Rog a John n, C ief
Land Disno 1 iPCtinn
Division OT Water Quality
 l-- % 0 Atlu y`f'f- gd23
