SJMC/MASTER UTILITY PLANT, #8809 5/1/89
r
pipe and fittings for underground fuel oil supply and return piping.
Primary piping shall be 2 -inch size, with tapered ends and fittings for
chemical bonding.
Secondary piping shall be 3 -inch size, with non-tapered ends and two-
piece containment type fittings. Install fittings with chemical bonding and
bolts.
Oil Tank Sounding, Fill, and Vent Lines: Schedule 40, galvanized, malleable
fAPD'1-- iron, screwed pipe and fittings. ADD, Z- 'Ssr X7EM 4l/ Fo2 Amgb -ra-
3. FUEL OIL PUMP:
Roper Series F, duplex style, or equal to pump listed on Drawings. Unit
shall be complete with mounting base, pressure relief and regulating valve,
back pressure valve, discharge check valve, compound pressure/vacuum gauge, oil
strainer, starter, control cabinet, and pilot light. Provide alternator to
automatically change the lead -lag selection of pumps on start-up.
4. LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM:
Tank leak detection - Dry annular space:
The monitoring panel enclosure shall be Nema 3R and contain the proper
number of independent channels to meet application requirements. Panel shall
have system normal light, audible/visual alarm with silencing pushbutton.
System will indicate whether the annular space fluid is hydrocarbon or water at
panel location. Panel to contain pushbutton for testing panel circuitry and a
`, SPOT slave relay per channel for remote indication of fault condition. Warrick
series DMS 610 or equal. The sensor shall be designed to access tank annular
space per tank manufacturer instructions and be located to assure detection of
any leaking liquid. Sensor cap shall remain accessible after installation.
Double wall piping leak detection:
Monitoring panel enclosure shall be Nema 3R and contain the proper
number of independent channels to meet application requirements. Panel shall
have system normal light, audible/visual alarm with silencing pushbutton and
will indicate the presence of liquid at sump location. Panel shall contain
pushbutton for testing panel circuitry and a SPDT slave relay per channel for
remote indication of fault condition. Warrick series DMS or equal. Sensor
shall be located in the tank sump at origin of doublewall piping or at low
point(s) of piping to allow gravity flow of leaking liquid to reach sensor.
Sensor to contain a float activated switch which will close on rising level.
Sensor height shall be adjustable and be installed to allow activation of float
switch to test entire system. Sensor must remain accessible after
installation.
Product level alarm overfill protection:
The monitoring panel enclosure shall be Nema 3R and contain the proper
number of independent channels to meet application requirements. Panel shall
have system normal light, audible/visual alarm with silencing pushbutton and
will indicate high level (low level) condition. Panel to contain pushbutton
FUEL OIL SYSTEMS 15485 — 2
41
