Wilson:
The Stockton Unified School District wishes to clarify its
intentions regarding its underground storage tanks and the
provisions discussed during administrative hearings on July 24 ,
1989 , between Public Health Services and the District .
Stockton Unified School District intends to accomplish the
following:
o Remove all underground tanks at the above mentioned sites
with the exception of the leaded and unleaded gasoline
tanks in its Corporation Yard. A detailed list of tanks to
be removed is attached.
o Replace the 500 gallon gasoline tanks at the three high
schools, the 40w motor oil tank and the waste oil tank in
the Corporation Yard with new aboveground tanks. The
installation of new aboveground tanks will require the
District to engage the services of an electrical engineer
and have plans approved by the State Fire Marshal ' s office.
This requirement is already in progress. The District has
also corresponded with the local fire department regarding
the temporary abandonment of our underground tanks to allow
this project to be coordinated in a cost-effective and
timely manner. A letter from the local fire marshal is
forthcoming.
o The removal of underground tanks and the replacement of
aboveground tanks will be incorporated into one project and
a contract awarded in early Spring, 1990 . Estimated target
date for project completion is June 30 , 1990 .
