UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK CLOSURE PLAN <br />FOR <br />PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY'S <br />STOCKTON GAS LOAD CENTER <br />--------------------------------------------- <br />1. Physical Description: 5,000 gallon, single walled steel tank <br />with associated piping. <br />3. Contents: Unleaded Gasoline <br />4. Contractor: Precision Industries <br />5. Soil Sampling: The soil sampling and testing will be per- <br />formed by the Twining Laboratories, Inc. <br />6. Notification: The San Joaquin County Health Department will <br />be notified at least 48 hours prior to tank removal and soil <br />sampling. <br />7. Procedures: Before excavation begins, any residual sludge or <br />free liquid will be removed from the tank. Clean excavated <br />material will be stockpiled on-site for use in backfilling <br />the excavation. The tank and piping will then be uncovered <br />with a backhoe. The piping will be removed and stockpiled <br />for off-site disposal. <br />Flammable vapors will be purged by introducing 1.5 pounds of <br />dry ice into the tank per 100 gallons of tank capacity and <br />sealing all openings except the vent port, at least one hour <br />before tank removal. Following removal, the tank will be <br />manifested on-site and transported by a licensed hazardous <br />waste hauler to the Erickson Inc. class 1 disposal facility <br />in Richmond Ca. <br />Any obviously contaminated soils will be excavated and <br />stockpiled for off-site disposal. A soil sample will then be <br />taken from the bottom of the excavation and laboratory tested <br />for Total Hydrocarbons. At least one sample will be taken <br />for every 200 square feet of tank excavation and for every 20 <br />lineal feet of piping excavation. <br />
