REPORT TO: Marty Thorpe
IOB REFERENCE: 85-052-5343
SAMPLE ID: 826664 , Waste Oil
_ATE: 10-20-88
ANALYSIS: PCB's via Method 8270
PURPOSE: The perpose of the analysis was to identify and quantitate
any PCB's present using the mass spec EPA method 8270.
PROCEDURE: The sample was extracted using EPA method 3550 with a
solvent exchange into hexane. Due to the extremely oily
matrix of the sample a sulfuric acid clean-up was performed,
therefore the 8270 surrogates were destroyed.
DISCUSSION: The sulfuric acid clean-up was not able to clean up all
the interferences present in the full scan mass spec method
(8270). Due to the massive amount of interference, the
sample was also run on an ECD detector to support the 8270
data.
RESULTS: Both the 8270 and ECD results are reported:
Client: THORPE OIL Project No. : 85-052-5343
Sample ID: 826664 , Waste Oil
Det.
