Royal Palm Road, #124 Scottsdale, AZ 85258 Subject: FIELD DENSITY TESTS - U-HAUL NO. 709-83 CHEROKEE LANE - LODI, CALIFORNIA Dear Mr. Blaes: This report presents the results of compaction tests taken at the subject project. At your request, personnel of our firm observed earthwork operations and performed tests at the site from December 17 to December 20, 1996. Thirteen tests were taken by the nuclear probe test method at random locations on backfill for a tank excavation. The depth of backfill was approximately 10 feet. Samples of the materials tested were brought to our laboratory for determination of the maximum density-optimum moisture content. The test results, shown on Table I, conform to the compaction requirements of the project specifications. In our opinion the tests are representative of the entire backfill at this location and comply with Chapter 33, Section 3317.3 of the 1994 Uniform Building Code. Since Kleinfelder, Inc. did not perform a geotechnical study for this site, we cannot accept any responsibility for the adequacy of any geotechnical recommendations. The scope of our work was strictly limited to density testing in the areas noted. We have employed accepted engltteering and testing procedures. However, we do not undertake the guarantee of construction, nor do we relieve the contractor of his primary responsibility to produce a completed project conforming to the project plans and specifications.
