W
V
re-
cently completed the materials properties test
and the physical test portion of their investiga-
tion under UL subject 971 and ULC C107C-
M1984 of Centron fiberglass / epoxy tubular
products in size 2" and found it to comply with
all applicable requirements for use with petro-
leum products, alcohol, and alcohol -gasoline
blends. UL file MH15635 and ULC file CMH
1301.
0 ® fiberglass / epoxy tubular products
have the same excellent corrosion and physical
properties as the CentronO Oil Field products.
The pipe, sleeve couplings, adapters, and reducer
bushings are manufactured using the same
filament winding process that has produced field
proven tubular products for the past fifteen
years. These products have been used by major
and independent oil companies in service condi-
tions up to 3,500 psi.
El - Centron@ fiberglass /epoxy
tubular products are lightweight, easy to handle
and instaff, and well suited for installation in
underground fuel service piping systems and
transmission lines. The bell and spigot piping
systems are installed using Centron R CAS -1 fuel
and alcohol resistant adhesive specifically de-
signed fbr this application. This adhesive was de-
veloped for rapid installation with short cure
time and maximum durability. Assembly of'Cen-
tron(k) piping syhtems requires no special field
2
0
Preparation except for tapering of field cut joints
which is fully outlined in our instarllrrtion instrtrc-
tians. A full range of fittings and adapters are
available.
Q - CentronO fiberglass /epoxy
Pipe products are filament wound on polished
steel mandrels. The angle of the continuous
fiberglass roving is precisely controlled to give
th' tIIhL11 (r [woducts maxinlrlrrr pc3rfcn m,incc
capabilities. The epoxy resin matrix used in
Centron rr fiberglass / epoxy products determines
the mechanical, chemical, and thermal proper-
ties of the products. The composite has a glass -
to -resin ratio of 75:25 by weight and the glass/
resin system is matched for optimum physical
and chemical resistance. The chemistry of the
epoxy resin mix is strictly controlled and the
curing cycle carefully monitored to ensure
Optimum chemical and physical properties of the
finished product.
El - Centrong epoxy fittings are the first
to be manufactured using the state-of--the-art
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) technology. This
process permits the LISP. ()l' i()irg 4LrIIn(I orientetl
reinforcement (as opposed to random oriented
short strand reinforcement) and results in
increased strength -to -weight ratios. Additionally,
the proprietary RTM technique used to manufac-
ture CentronOO RTM fittings produces parts with
very low void content, excellent fiber wet out,
and a resin rich inner surface for exceptional
corrosion re5istnncc.
0
