` UST Closure Report The Earthgrains Company
2651 S. Airport Way, Stockton, California April 10, 1996
Paas 2
abandoned in place. Product and product return lines between the UST and the adjacent building
were removed and transported with the UST for disposal. The UST interior atmosphere was then
inerted with solid carbon dioxide (dry ice). The explosive level and oxygen content was measured
with a Gastechtor Model #1314 combustible gas indicator prior to removal. The removed tank was
inspected by personnel from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Division and the
Stockton Fire Department. The inerted UST was loaded onto a truck operated by Erickson, Inc. for
transport to their 255 Parr Boulevard, Richmond California facility, for lawful disposal.
Soil Sampling and Analysis
Two soil samples were collected from native soils beneath the excavation floor by personnel from
Western Environmental Science and Technology (WEST), a State -Certified analytical laboratory
located in Davis, California. The samples were collected according to the Ramcon Standard
Procedures included as Attachment A. Two additional soil samples were collected by WEST from
hand auger borings located adjacent to the product supply and remote fill product lines. Four
samples were also collected by WEST from the resulting soil stockpile for 4-1 composite analysis by
the laboratory.
The five soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel -range
compounds, and the purgeable aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total
xylenes (BTEX). The analysis indicates that low concentrations of TPH diesel occur in sample PF 1 n,
collected from the north side of the excavation floor. Analysis of the stockpile samples indicates
` detectable, but low concentrations of TPH diesel. Purgeable aromatics were not detected in any
sample. Soil sample analysis is summarized in Table 1.
M
J . 7o69v003781\WF'61,REPORi
110
