O STOCKTON COUNTY OF SAN AVIATION
`METROPOL/TAN DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION
/ AIRPORT Dan DeAngelis
R r E I Airport Manager
JAN 14 1992
January 14 , 1992 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH JAN141992
PERMITISERVICES
Mr. Michael Collins
San Joaquin Local Health District
Environmental Health Division
445 N. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Mr. Collins:
In response to your request to provide information relative to the
underground storage tanks at Stockton Metropolitan Airport, I have
been able to identify various users of the tanks. As you are aware,
several of the tanks were installed during World War II by the federal
government when Stockton field was utilized from 1940-1945 as a mili-
tary training base.
Following World War II, the operation of the airport was handled
jointly by the City of Stockton and County with the County assuming
full ownership in 1956 . Due to the change in administration, records
dating back to the 1940 ' s are not complete; however, based on the
information available, the usage of the tanks appears to be as
follows:
Beginning Ending
Shell Oil Co. 1948 1982
Standard (Chevron) Oil Co. 1948 1986
Bridgeford Flying Service 1965 1969
Mobile Oil Co. 1969 1973
Phillips Petroleum 1970 1979
Hemet Valley Flying Service 1973 1975
Texaco, Inc. 1973 1981
Golden Gate Airlines 1980 1981
Werner Aero Sales 1980 1992
Spanos Jet Center 1980 1990
Pete Smith, Energy Petroleum 1981 1987
Carol Shire Valley Systems 1987 1992
Venable Aircraft 1982 1986
Pacific States Trading Co. 1986 1992
USAir Fuel Corp. 1988 1990
5000 SOUTH AIRPORT WAY 0 TERMINAL BUILDING, ROOM 202 • STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA 95206-3996 • (219) 466-4700 0 FAX:(209)466-4730
