Weare waiting for our Total Lead (Pb)
results, they should be here today, however, I was given a verbal that most are very near or slightly above 50ppm
total Pb. Laboratory is mailing original to Michelle at your offices.
Stockpiled soil has some detectable hydrocarbon in the diesel range in both stockpiles; SPA-(ABCD) at 53
mg/Kg, "hydrocarbons are higher -boiling than Diesel Fuel' and SP -2 -(AB) 63 mg/Kg (no special note). I have
checked with the Lab to question if the noted higher boiling point hydrocarbon is oil from camphor tree roots that
were in the sample media. Lab has recommended that we run a silica gel clean-up on the stockpile samples to
eliminate the potential for camphor oil in sample SP-1-(ABCD). I have ordered that analytical work for both
stockpile samples even though SP -2 -(AB) did not have the hydrocarbon anomaly noted. After the Lab runs a
silica gel clean up and if the contamination drops down but still turns out to be diesel will EHD require non-
hazardous disposal at a Forward for both stockpiles or can we use one or both stockpiles as backfill material and
not have to haul away?
If EHD allows stockpiles to be reused as fill that may be acceptable to GMAC also, however, it may be that GMAC
does not want to or cannot reuse the slightly contaminated dirt due to sales contract provisions or concerns over
liability to buyer or future owners.
The four (4) tank pit samples we collected from two feet below the bottom of the tanks were all less than the
detection limit Will EHD close this site with no further action required?
I have also provided a copy of the document that shows the tanks have been properly disposed. You will get in
the forthcoming closure report, hard copies of this information.
Please let me know as soon as possible what will be required for the soil stockpiles so I can advise GMAC. If you
have any questions please call (209-603-3394).
Thanks, John Lynch
209-603-3394
cc GMAC, Heather Sumners
10/17/2008
