All field staff working on site will have completed training in hazard recognition and basic <br /> health and safety issues as required by the occupational safety and health regulations <br /> contained in 29 CFR 1910.120(e). In addition, each employee will be familiar with the <br /> requirements of this site safety and health plan, and will participate in site activity and <br /> safety briefings. There are no project-specific training and requirements for field staff <br /> anticipated at this time. <br /> PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Based on the hazard analysis for this project , the following personal protective equipment <br /> (PPE)will be required. Changes to these specified items of PPE will not be made without <br /> the approval of the site safety officer. <br /> The maximum level of personal protection on this site is Level D. <br /> MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Medical surveillance is conducted as a routine program which meets the requirements of <br /> 29 CFR 1910.120(f). Medical surveillance examinations are provided at regular intervals <br /> to monitor the health status of the participating staff. The intervals are: baseline <br /> examinations on initial assignment to hazardous materials field operations; annual <br /> examination for participants in the program; exit examinations to close out the medical <br /> records upon the employees separation of the firm or if the employee is reassigned from <br /> hazardous materials activities, and when periodic examination is required for specific <br /> projects and to evaluate an injury or hazardous chemical exposure. <br /> It is not anticipated that any special tests or examinations will be required for staff' <br /> involved in this project. However, all workers must be aware of the signs and symptoms <br /> of potential heat and cold stress. <br /> SITE CONTROL MEASURES <br /> The potential physical hazards have been identified in this SSHP; however, should site- <br /> specific or unexpected conditions arise, the SSO will stop all work at the site and the <br /> Prune Contractor will be notified. Work will not be completed until the SSHP has been <br /> revised or re-evaluated accordingly. <br /> Since this job does not contain any chemical hazards, formal work zones (exclusion, <br /> contamination, and support) wsll not be established. However, access to the work area <br /> will be limited to those persons having a direct involvement with the field activities. The <br /> SSO will establish the general limits of the work area and will be responsible for site <br /> control. <br />
