Management of these hazards involves <br /> proper tool selection, rigorous maintenance of tools and equipment and effective training of <br /> employees in the proper use of these tools. <br /> 3.2 WEATHER <br /> The weather condition is an important consideration in planning and conducting site <br /> operations. Extremely hot or cold weather can cause physical discomfort, loss of efficiency and <br /> personal injury. Of particular importance is heat stress, often resulting when protective clothing <br /> decreases the body's natural ventilation process. <br /> Reduced work tolerance and the increased risk of excessive heat stress is directly <br /> influenced by the amount of work performed while wearing personal protective equipment and <br /> by the rate of work performed. Because the incidence of heat stress depends on a variety of <br /> factors, all workers will be monitored. <br /> All operations will immediately cease whenever the wind speed exceeds 40 mph, <br /> lightning occurs, or during heavy precipitation. <br /> 3.2.1 Heat Stress <br /> Hazards associated with heat stress include the following: <br /> 3.2.1.1 Heat Rash <br /> Heat rash may result from continuous exposure to heat or to humid air. <br /> 5 <br />
