ELDORADO - STOCKTON, CA Dear Mr. Thorpe: Permit No. 96-3828 This report presents the results of compaction tests taken at the subject project. At your request, Messrs. Dennis Quashnick, Joseph Fulton, Harold Cochran, and John Clarkson of our firm observed earthwork operations and performed tests at the site on October 8, 9, and 10, 1996, on an intermittent basis. Eighteen tests were taken by the nuclear probe test method at random locations on tank and footing excavation backfill. The depth of tank backfill was approximately 14 feet. Samples of the materials tested were brought to our laboratory for determination of the maximum density -optimum moisture content. The test results, shown on Table 1, conform to the compaction requirements of the project specifications. Since Kleinfelder, Inc. did not perform a geotechnical study for this site, we cannot accept any responsibility for the adequacy of any geotechnical recommendations. The scope of our work was strictly limited to density testing in the areas noted. We have employed accepted engineering and testing procedures. However, we do not undertake the guarantee of construction, nor do we relieve the contractor of his primary responsibility to produce a completed project conforming to the project plans and specifications.
