• During the removal of the tanks, representative(s) of San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department and Tracy Fire Department were on-site to
observe and document activities being performed by Wright Environmental
Services.
• The tank was lifted by the backhoe on site and placed on plastic for cleaning off
the exterior and identification. Then the tank and piping was placed on a
transport trailer provided by Wright, for inspection by the County of San Joaquin
Environmental Health Department Inspector prior to transport.
• All excavated surfaces were inspected for evidence of leakage. Evidence of
contamination was not found by visual observation in the former tank resting
areas or sidewalls of the excavation pit area.
• Tank, and Piping were removed and disposed of as required by County of San
Joaquin Environmental Health Department(SJC/EHD) and"Procedural Guide for
the Removal of Underground Storage Tanks" and other applicable regulations.
• A backhoe was used to take soil samples under the supervision of SJC/EHD
personnel by a third party sampler from GeoAnalytical. The samples were taken
near the end of and beneath the tank. A soil sample was also taken from the
former pipeline area. Soil samples were taken from the excavated soil stockpile
and groundwater(GW) samples were also taken.
• Samples were placed in clean brass sleeves with Teflon tape placed over each
end. The sleeves were then closed with plastic caps over the Teflon Tape and
tagged with identifying seals for time, location and depth and placed in an ice
chest for delivery to GeoAnalytical Laboratory, along with the GW samples
taken.
Samples were then transported to GeoAnalytical Laboratory under proper Chain-
of-Custody for analytical testing.
The excavation was backfilled with"other" native soil onsite, properly moistened,
and compacted,to within Y below grade (BG). No fill material was placed,
spread,or compacted during unfavorable weather conditions.
Excavated soil stockpile was covered with plastic and the site was secured by
temporary chain linked fencing for protection and possible pedestrian traffic.
• The excavation site was enclosed within a temporary chain link fence. The site
was cleaned and secured.
