Well Destruction and Excavation Sampling Report
Former TRACY DINER
95 West 11`h Street, Tracy, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of the current property owper, Mr. Joe Panetta,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, hie.
(AGE)has prepared this Well Destruction and Excavation/Sampling Report regarding interim soil
` remediation performed at 95 West 11`^ Street, Tracy, California. The purpose of the interim
remediation was to remove the remaining hydrocarbon-impacted soil from beneath the site prior to
construction of a proposed multistory office building over the site.
This report has been prepared in accordance with guidelines established by the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for investigation of UST sites. The site
location is provided in Figure 1; the prominent features on the subject property are depicted in
Figure 2.
2.0. PROCEDURES
Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 were abandoned as part of over-excavation activities to
remove hydrocarbon-impacted soil related to an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons
from former USTs at the site. Over-excavation of the former gasoline UST excavation was
conducted on 20 and 21 October 2003 and 10,11, and 12 November 2003; during overexcavation
activities, an additional UST with unknown fuel was discovered on 21 October 2003 and
subsequently removed. The work was performed in accordance with the AGE-prepared and EHD-
approved Additional Site Assessment Work Plan-August 2003, dated 21 August 2003 and Interim
Soil Remediation Work Plan, dated 03 November 2003.
2.1. MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
A permit for well abandonment of monitoring wells MW-1,MW-3,and MW-4 was approved by the
` San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)on 11 September 2003.Copies ofthe
well abandonment permit are included in Appendix C.
Well abandonment of monitoring wells MW 1,MW-3,and MW-4 was performed on 15 September
2003 by Cascade Drilling Corporation ofRancho Cordova under EHD oversight.Well abandonment
activities were performed utilizing a B-75 mobile drill rig equipped with 8-inch hollow stem augers;
the monitoring wells were over-drilled to a total depth of 15 feet bsg. The well casing at each well
location was removed and stored on plastic sheeting for later disposal.Soil cuttings generated during
the over-drilling were stockpiled on site and covered by plastic sheeting in an area lacking public
access.Afterwards, each over-drilled boring was backfilled to surface grade with approximately 39
gallons of bentonite slurry, utilizing the hollow stem augers as a tremie pipe.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
v
