kn KLEINFELDER (t"
November 30, 1988 U`L,
File: 24-1132-20 Eh 1ST
°V(h✓FA(ny
Ms. Laurie Cotulla
San Joaquin Local Health District
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Ms. Cotulla:
Enclosed is the report "Jordan Real Estate, Preliminary Assessment Report, 298 Grantline
Road, Tracy, California. Low levels of contaminants were found in ground water in one
monitoring well and soil contamination was detected near that same well. Kleinfelder
recommends that another round of ground water sampling be conducted and that the
extent of soil contamination be assessed.
Presently, there are two open excavations on the property. Mr. Bill Jordan, owner of the
property, wants to find a tenant for the building, but cannot do so until the excavations are
filled. Since contamination was found only in the vicinity of the small excavation, we are
recommending that the large excavation be backfilled with clean soil. The small excavation
can be temporarily backfilled with clean soil or covered with steel plates. We recognize
that either of these excavations may have to be reopened as part of future investigations or
remediation. As part of the leasing agreement, Mr. Jordan will make any potential tenant
aware that during future investigations, additional excavation may occur that could affect
operation of the tenant's business.
Since Mr. Jordan is suffering economic hardship and increased liability while the
excavation remains open, we would appreciate a response on this request at your earliest
possible convenience. With the site generating income, Mr. Jordan will be better able to
respond to any requests you make in the future. If you have any questions, please call me
or Timothy Crandall.
Sincerely, SAN JOAQUIN LOCAL HEALTH DISTHIW
POST OFFICE BOX 2009
KLEINFELDER,INC. STOCKTON.
