CA
Attached UST and Product Line Removal Report(Touchstone, 6/20/94)
Attached Soil Excavation and Remediation Workplan (Touchstone,7/18/94)
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Please find attached a report dated June 20, 1994, which was prepared by Chevron's consultant,
Touchstone Developments (Touchstone), to describe the sampling procedures and analytical results
associated with the UST and piping removal activities at the subject site on May 20, 1994.
Analytical results indicated the presence of TPHGas and BTEX constituents in soils at the former
UST, piping, and plump island locations. Soil analytical results also identified oil and grease,
diesel, and other semivolatile organic compounds in the vicinity of the former waste oil tank and
lube bay sump. Groundwater samples from the UST tankpit detected the presence of TPHGas and
BTEX.
Also attached, is a workplan dated July 20, 1994, which was prepared by Touchstone. The
workplan describes procedures to remediate soils in the vicinity of the former waste oil tankpit, the
lube bay sump, and the southern pump island areas. Excavated soils which contain non-fuel
constituents will be stockpiled and later disposed of at an appropriate landfill facility. All excavated
soils impacted by TPHG/BTEX will be stockpiled onsite and aerated according to procedures
specified by the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District. Upon completion of soil
aeration, remediated soils will be used onsite as tankpit backfill material. Concurrence will be
sought from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services prior to using any remediated soil as
backfill material.
If you have any questions or comments, you may contact me at(510) 842-8695.
Sincerely,
Brett L.
