Soil samples were collected from beneath
the UST's and submitted for laboratory analysis. Results from the laboratory,
however, were not submitted to the EHD until February 1989 and were not
submitted in an acceptable format. The submitted results were hand written and
were not accompanied by a chain of custody documenting their collection and
receipt by the laboratory.
In correspondence dated September 28, 1993 you were notified by the EHD of
the problems with the analytical results from the tank removal activities and
directed to submit either properly documented laboratory results, or, if they
were not available, to conduct further investigation to get the analytical data that
is required to obtain regulatory closure for this site. Until the required data is
submitted to the EHD your site will be considered an open UST site. This may
affect any future sale or development of your property. In addition, you are not
in compliance with California Health and Safety Code requirements [Section
25298(c)(4)] that you demonstrate to the EHD that there were not past releases
from the UST's.
In 1996 the City of Escalon conducted environmental investigations at several
locations along the McHenry Avenue/Hwy 120 corridor in preparation for a
roadway realignment project. Two soil borings were advanced on your property;
laboratory analytical results reported elevated concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbon contamination in soil samples collected from one of the borings.
This reported contamination may or may not be a result of fuel dispensing
activities at your site, but further investigation is needed for confirmation.
