AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS. COMPANY. Inc.
10144 EAST FRENCH CAMP ROAD
MANTECA.CA 95336
209:952-1031
June 5, 1986
Renaldo Crooks, R.S.
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin Local Health District
1601 E. Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA. 95201
Dear Sir:
The following is a proposal to begin closure procedures
for the underground pesticide rinse water tank located at the
Union Carbide Research Station, 10144 E. French Camp Road,
Manteca, CA. 95336.
The engineering firm we are proposing to use for the tank
closure and laboratory analysis of soil samples is J. H. Kleinfelder
and Associates, 9795 Business Park Drive, Suite D, Sacramento,
Ca. 95827. Their classification number is C61D09 and license
number is 467252.
The tank in question is a 1250 gallon fiberglass tank
located underneath one of the buildings at the above site. This
tank was installed in 1980 prior to construction of the building
in 1981 and has been used each year to temporarily store very
dilute quantities of pesticide rinse water. The contents of the
tank varied from year to year and consisted of very dilute mixtures
of various pesticides and water. The pesticides were predominately
carbamates and organochlorines and various solvents. Our last
shipment of pesticide rinse water from the tank was removed by
Chemical Waste Management, Inc. of Kettleman. City, CA on April 11, 1986.
Since that date the tank has been left unused and we are proposing
to close the tank in place. Enclosed please find a diagram of the
location of the tank and the location of the building which is
situated above the underground tank.
Following soil boring and sampling beneath the tank and labora-
tory analysis of the soil and
we propose to fill the tank with
an inert substance such as sand or cement.
