* 0
The information contained herein (or attached hereto) has been
prepared at your request. The information is confidential and has been
and will be disclosed only to those in Pacific Telesis Group and Pacific
Bell and Versar Inc, , with a need to review this information.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Versar conducted a site assessment of the Pacific Bell Ashley Stockton
Road site (UE-132) , which is located in San Joaquin County, California, an
October 31, and November 1, 1988. The assessment included a review of
records, a physical site inspection, the drilling of four boreholes, the
i collection of soil samples for analyses, and associated research. Mr.
Kayo Dokken, Geohydrologist, and Mr. Michael Sellens, Geohydrologist,
conducted the site assessment. Mr. Dokken and Mr. James Frantes, Senior
Geohydrologist, prepared this site assessment report. Mr. Clarence
Johnson, Assistant Manager, Versar West Coast Risk Management Services,
reviewed this site assessment report.
0 The following brief conclusions summarize the findings of Versar's
assessment:
• Soil contamination, identified as diesel fuel , is present in
significant amounts; low levels of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene
and xylene are also present.
• The diesel contamination has not migrated off site. The
contamination is confined to an essentially vertical plume, in
close proximity to the former location of the underground storage
tank.
1
• Remedial action is necessary to clean up the soil contamination.
Approved for Release:
Michael A. Neely Clarence R. rJghnson
a Manager Senior Geohydrologist
West Coast Risk Management Services RPG 4195
