CrXiSACRAMENTO
' 1. 0 INTRODUCTION
' The system to be implemented at the Pacific Bell facility
located at 7644 Ashley Lane, Stockton is a Carbtrol SVX Soil.
Vapor Extraction System. This system is being used as part of a
pilot study for the in situ remediation of diesel fuel-impacted
' soils at the Pacific Bell site.
2 . 0 DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM
' The entire study system consists of four vapor extraction
wells, one of which may be used as an injection well, the SVX
' system and two Carbtrol Model G-1 activated carbon adsorption
canisters connected in series.
' In the course of the study, various combinations of
injection/extraction configurations will be tested. In one such
configuration, air is drawn from an extraction well by the SVX
system, processed through the carbon adsorption canisters to
reduce the fuel hydrocarbon concentration by 90% or more, then
injected back into the ground through another well.
The wells will be constructed so as to draw soil vapor from
contaminated strata through a gravel pack (No. 3 sand or
coarser) .
' 3 . 0 DESCRIPTION of SVX SYSTEM
The SVX Soil Vapor Extraction System consists of a vacuum
' exhauster, a demister, manual flow control and air dilution
valves, temperature and pressure gauges, an ammeter, and level
' and motor controls. All electrical equipment is rated explosion
proof, Class 1, Division 1, Group D.
' The system has a rated capacity of 105 cubic feet per minute
(cfm) at 6 inches of mercury. The actual in- and out-flow of the
system will be monitored with pitot tubes.
The motor in the vacuum is 5 horsepower, and runs on 230/460
' voltage, 3 phase.
