6 <br /> 7.0 WORK ZONES <br /> The site shall be controlled to reduce the possibility of translocation of the contaminants <br /> by personnel/equipment and dangerous levels of airborne dust, vapors, etc. This shall be <br /> accomplished by setting up physical barriers based upon the amount of space needed <br /> to perform the work and the air monitoring results. <br /> A. EXCLUSION ZONE (hot area): <br /> Area where the actual work is to be performed. Includes swing radius of equipment <br /> and loading operations. Access is limited only to those personnel needed to <br /> conduct the work. <br /> B. CONTAMINATION REDUCTION ZONE (buffer area): <br /> Disposable protective gear will be removed and placed in plastic bags before- <br /> leaving this area. Heavy equipment and non-disposable gear will cleaned at a <br /> decon center within this zone. <br /> C. SUPPORT ZONE (non-contaminated area): <br /> All materials must be fully decontaminated before entering this area. Staging and <br /> support of the work being performed will take place here. <br /> 8.0 DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> Personnel, equipment, tools, monitoring equipment,clean-up equipment,and everything <br /> else leaving the exclusion zone is considered to be-contaminated unless otherwise <br /> demonstrated. Spent solution and cleaning materials used to decon must be properly <br /> disposed. <br /> A. PERSONNEL: <br /> Personal protective equipment worn into the exclusion area will bel <br /> decontaminated upon leaving the contamination reduction zone. <br /> 1. LEVEL D <br /> a. Boot and glove wash. <br /> b. Boot and glove rinse. <br /> c. Wash face and hands as soon as possible. <br /> d. Clothes should be washed as soon as possible. <br /> 2. LEVEL C <br /> a. Equipment drop-(tools&meters)-Sheet of visqueen on the ground. <br /> b. Boot,glove,and chemical resistant suit wash. <br /> c. Boot,glove,and chemical resistant suit rinse. <br /> d. Outer glove removal-(may re-use depending on condition). <br /> e. Suit and boot removal. <br /> f. Inner glove removal. <br /> g. Wash face and hands., <br /> _B. EQUIPMENT. <br /> All heavy equipment and large tools shall be steam cleaned to remove all dust and <br /> dirt. For equipment, more emphasis shall be placed on the undercarriages,buckets, <br /> tracks,and tires. Materials used in the decon process must be properly disposed. <br />
