./ 6 A. EXCLUSION ZONE (hot area): Area where the actual work is to be performed. Includes swing radius of equipment and loading operations. Access is limited only to those personnel needed to conduct the work. B. CONTAMINATION REDUCTION ZONE (buffer area): Disposable protective gear will be removed and placed in plastic bags before leaving this area. Heavy equipment and non-disposable gear will cleaned at a decon center within this zone. C. SUPPORT ZONE (non-contaminated area): All materials must be fully decontaminated before entering this area. Staging and support of the work being performed will take place here. Spent solution and cleaning materials used to decon must be properly disposed. A. PERSONNEL: Personal protective equipment worn into the exclusion area will be decontaminated upon leaving the contamination reduction zone. 1. LEVEL D a. Boot and glove wash. b. Boot and glove rinse. c. Wash face and hands as soon as possible. d. Clothes should be washed as soon as possible. 2. LEVEL C a. Equipment drop- (tools &meters) -Sheet of visqueen on the ground. b. Boot,glove,and chemical resistant suit wash. c. Boot,glove,and chemical resistant suit rinse. d. Outer glove removal- (may re-use depending on condition). e. Suit and boot removal. I. Inner glove removal. g. Wash face and hands. B. EQUIPMENT: All heavy equipment and large tools shall be steam cleaned to remove all dust and dirt. For equipment, more emphasis shall be placed on the undercarriages, buckets, tracks,and tires. Materials used in the decon process must be properly disposed.
