CROSSY & OVERTON <br /> li Environmental Management Inc. <br /> 8430 Amelia Street e Oakland,California 94621 <br /> (495)6330336 <br /> ' PROCEDURES FOR 550 GALLON WASTE OIL TANK <br /> WHICH HAS BEEN UNEARTHED <br /> 'r <br /> i <br /> -- Arrive at location <br /> -- Conduct safety meeting with site personnel after survey of area <br /> -- Secure area as a no smoking area (minimum of 25 feet radius from any <br /> ignition sources) <br /> -- Check quantity of material in tank <br /> -- Check tank for Lower Explosive Limit (L.E.L. ) oxygen with gastech ¢ <br /> -- Remove any free standing liquids from tank with vacuum truck, <br /> grounding bath tank and truck to common ground <br /> -- Vacuum tank exhaust is located at least 25 feet from ignition <br /> source <br /> -- Check Lower Explosive Limit Oxygen with gastech <br /> (If Lower Explosive Limit is 10% or lower, set up to cut tank) <br /> -- if Lower Explosive Limit is above 10%, rinse tank with fresh water <br /> (approx. 20 gallons) <br /> -- Remove rinse water from tank, pulling vacuum from top of <br /> product trying to remove any light ends (Check ground) <br /> -- Check with gastech for Lower Explosive Limit Oxygen. (If <br /> Lower Explosive Limit is well below 10%, set up for cutting. <br /> -- If Lower Explosive Limit is above 20% inert with dry ice <br /> (20 pounds per 1000 gallons) . The period of time to inert <br /> varies between two to six hours. <br /> -- <br /> Drill a 1/2 inch hole with electric drill motor and drill <br /> to allow sawzall blade to enter tank <br /> -- Cut with sawzall a 3 foot by 3 foot access in tank <br /> -- Remove all remaining free standing liquids , (Check ground) , <br /> with vacuum truck. <br /> 24 Hour Emergency Response(800)821-0424 <br />
