K( JESTIC TECH <br /> 11 . 2 . 1 LEVEL D PROTECTION: <br /> Level D protective clothing and equipment shall be wrn by all field <br /> personnel, for all work site activites, unless otherwise spevcified <br /> by the Safety and Health Officer (SHO) and the SHP, Level D <br /> Protection shall consist of the following: <br /> Industrially laundered work uniforms (coveralls or <br /> equivalent) <br /> construction grade leather, work boots with ANSI approved <br /> steel safety toes <br /> Heavy grade leather, gloves <br /> Hard hat, ANSI approved <br /> Hearing protective devices (i. e. , disposable foam insert , <br /> when active air operations area) . <br /> High visibility traffic safety vests when in active air <br /> operations and any other traffic hazard areas) . <br /> Safety goggles, glasses or face sheild. ANSI approved <br /> (optional - may be specified by the SHO) . <br /> Level D protection may be used when exposure monitoring indicates <br /> Level C protection is not required (see 10 . 2. 2 above ) . Operations <br /> where this applies include setting up work areas , operating backhoe <br /> and other equipment, handling tanks having no measureable residue <br /> or airborne concentration outside the tank, handling uncontaminated <br /> soils, or working outside a designated exclusion zone. <br /> 11. 2. 2 LEVEL C PROTECTION: <br /> Level C protecetive clothing and equipment shall be worn by all <br /> field personnel working inside a designated exclusion zone when any <br /> Of the following occures: <br /> When instructed by the Field Supervisor or SHO <br /> When work site conditions are highly variable and the <br /> Potential for exposure above safety levels exists <br /> When expsoure monitoring indicates that airborne levels <br /> could or have exceseded the action levels for specific <br /> conditions ( see 10. 2. 2 above. ) . <br />
