APPENDIXI <br /> HEALTH EFFECTS OF WASTE PRODUCTS <br /> DIESEL <br /> Diesel fuel is a petroleum-based oil and is available in various grades, one of them being <br /> synonymous with fuel oil Number 2. <br /> The greatest health concern with diesel at this site is skin contact with contaminated soil. <br /> Diesel on simple contact may defat the skin, which can lead to irritation, infection and <br /> dermatitis. <br /> Diesel is not sufficiently volatile, and is not found in high enough concentrations in the soil at <br /> this site, to constitute an inhalation hazard. However, air purifying respirators are available to <br /> employees for nuisance odors. <br /> page 14 <br />
