Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box_ 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
FUEL TANK INSTALLATION, STEPHENS ANCHORAGE
The City of Stockton (COS) leases premises known as Stephens
Anchorage to Stephens Marine, Inc. (SMI) . SMI has leased
the property since 1974 under a lease (as amended) which
will expire on December 27 , 2024 . Terms of the lease
require SMI to assume full responsibility for the operation,
maintenance and improvement of the property subject to COS
approval.
SMI desires to install new fuel tanks under Health District
permit to be prepared for the boating season which will
begin in roughly six weeks. The installation will be
completed concurrently with the remediation plan for
contaminated soil and/or groundwater which was discovered
when the old tanks were removed. SMI's consulting
geologists, WaterWork, indicate that this is a common
practice throughout the state and it will have no adverse
effect on the clean-up process.
As per our conversation of February 16, 1989 , no agency
other than the Water Quality Control Board and COS have any
jurisdiction in this matter.
We appreciate your assistance in this matter and in SMI
receiving approval to install the new tanks. Thank you.
EI+RCREATION
DIRECTOR
PARKS AN
ES:bac
cc: Broy Riha, Acting Director of Public Works Department
Richard Dunn, Stephens Marine, Inc.
"STOCKTON---CALIFORNIA'S SUNRISE SEAPORT"
