` J. R. SIMPLOT COMPANY 116777 SOUTH HOWLAND ROAD I P.O. BOX 198
LATHROP, CALIFORNIA 95330 1(209)858-2511
MINERALS &CHEMICAL DIVISION
April 6, 1987
San Joaquin Local Health District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Attention: Environmental Health
Dear Sirs:
Enclosed please find the results from inventory reconciliation monitoring of two
10,000 gallon underground tanks located at the J. R. Simplot Company fertilizer
and agricultural chemicals manufacturing plant in Lathrop, California. The two
tanks contain regular leaded gasoline and diesel .
Also enclosed are the results from the underground storage tank test and the meter
calibration. The tank integrity test was performed by UNOCAL on December 19,
1986. The results showed both the gasoline and diesel tanks to be tight according
to N.F.P.A. standards. The gasoline meter and diesel meter were calibrated by the
Stockton Service Station Equipment Company on November 20, 1986. The diesel meter
was re-checked on March 30, 1967, and was found to be in calibration.
The inventory reconciliation report for the gasoline tank showed one daily
variation that exceeded the allowable variation. The average daily variation for
the gasoline tank was +6.9 gallons, or 9.2% of the allowable variation. Except
for the one day, the data for the gasoline tank was within the allowable
variation. The report for the diesel tank showed 7 daily variations that exceeded
the allowable variation. The average daily variation for the diesel tank was +3.1
gallons, or 4.2% of the allowable variation. Except for the days cited, the data
for the diesel tank was within the allowable variation. The excessive variations
are listed separately on the attached report.
If you have any questions, please call John Pallen at (209) 858-2511 ext. 226.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Robert W.
