Weber Avenue, Room 675
Stockton, CA 95202
SUBJECT: Addendum #2
Soil Assessment Work Plan for
Closure of Underground Storage Tank
Request for Proposal 92-3
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Sanders:
This letter is a second addendum to Kleinfelder's scope of work, 24-TP2592, dated April 23,
1992, which describes proposed soil assessment activities regarding the abandonment of an
underground storage tank at the San Joaquin County Courthouse Annex. This second
addendum was prepared in response to San Joaquin County Public Wealth Services (SJCPHS)
request for drilling two additional borings adjacent to the tank.
The changes in the work plan (Tasks 2 and 3) and additional conditions and understandings are
described below.
Task 2 - Drilling and Soil Sampling
The underground fuel storage tank (UST) is apparently placed on top of a concrete slab.
Because of the slab and limited site access, Kleinfelder originally proposed drilling three
vertical borings adjacent to the tank. San Joaquin County Public Health Services later
requested that one of the borings be drilled at an angle beneath the tank. Of the three borings
originally proposed, Kleinfelder recommended drilling the boring located on the north side of
the UST at a 45 degree angle as shown on Plate 1. Kleinfelder recommended that the other
two borings remain vertical borings due to the limited site access and concrete slab. This
change in the scope of work is presented in the first work plan addendum dated August 5,
1992.
SJCEHD reviewed the work plan addendum and requested that two additional borings be
drilled around the UST for a total of five. The location of the two borings are shown on
Plate 1. These two additional borings will be drilled vertically to an approximate depth of 25
feet. Soil samples will be collected at 5 foot intervals to the termination depth of the boring.
GM 19-92-274 Page 1 of 2
Cop ht 1992 Kleinfelder, Inc.
KLEINFEMOR 3077 Fite Circle, Sacramento, CA 95827 19161 36+6-1701
