Vertical Boring
Approximately 10 feet of underggrround piping connects the eastern side of the tank to the
Courthouse Annex basement. Kleinfelder intends to address soil sampling of the piping
and soil adjacent to the tank by advancing a single vertical boring adjacent to the tank and
piping. On the basis of the short distance between the tank and building, there are no
other viable sampling locations for the piping. Note the location of the boring on revised
Plate 1 in relation to the tank and piping.
Grout Mixture
The driller will backfill the borings by tremming from the bottom up with a neat cement
and bentonite slurry.
Tank Closure Permit
It is San Joaquin County Purchasing Division's intention to abandon the underground tank
in place. Public Health Services has requested that a tank closure permit and fee be
submitted as well as a boring permit. Attached are the two permits and fees for Public
Health review.
Health and Safety Plan
Attached is a field Health and Safety Plan to be used for the field drilling.
If you have any questions regarding the work plan addendum or proposal cost, please call.
Sincerely,
KV4NFELDE INC.
VricS.
