Weber Avenue, Room 675
Stockton, California 95202
SUBJECT: Proposed Soil Assessment to Abandon an Underground Tank
Request for Proposal 92-3
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Sanders:
At your request, Kleinfelder has prepared a proposal to collect soil samples adjacent
to and beneath an underground fuel storage tank at the Stockton Courthouse
Annex. It is Kleinfelder's understanding that the County intends on seeking
permission to close and abandon the tank inplace.
Kleinfelder has extensive experience in working with the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services and conducting environmental assessments. It is our opinion that
the detail of information presented in the attached proposal will be sufficient to
obtain boring permits, and that an additional work plan to collect samples beneath
the tank will not be necessary. This proposal can be submitted as the work plan,
and there will not be an additional charge for work plan preparation.
Please review the attached scope of services, project cost estimate, and client
responsibilities and assumptions. The scope of services includes drilling and
sampling three borings to a depth of approximately 25 vertical feet; analyzing the
samples and preparing a report of findings. The estimated cost for the proposed
scope of work is $7,300.
Based on a standard laboratory turnaround schedule requiring 10 to 15 working
days, the report of findings should be available for review within six to eight weeks
after authorization to proceed from San Joaquin County Purchasing Division and
approval from San Joaquin County Public Health Services.
Kleinfelder opened its first office in Stockton over 30 years ago. We have been
conducting environmental assessments and remediations in San Joaquin County for
the last eight years. We are currently working with San Joaquin County on two
other underground storage tank assessments. We are conducting a soil investigation
for the San Joaquin County Motor Pool, and we are conducting a soil and ground
water assessment, and a tank removal at the San Joaquin County General Hospital
in French Camp.
FP3-92-35 Page 1 of 2
Copyright 1992 Kleinfelder, Inc.
,t I.INI'-Til 1); " 107, F-iv, Ci,, it-, S,i( anicnlu, ( i\ `ISN.? 1916) 166 I7I1;
