State Water ResotHees Contre' -'oard Page 2 of 3
Test Period Minimum of 2 hours.
Test data are acquired and recorded by system's computer.
Leak rate is calculated from the difference between the first and last data collected.
There must be no dispensing or delivery during test. E
q
Temperature Average for product is determined by probe which contains 5 thermistors.
At least two thermistors must be submerged in product during test.
ti
Water Must be used to detect water ingress.
Sensor Minimum detectable water level in the tank is 0.66 inch for model 8463 and 8493 probe.
Minimum detectable water level in the tank is 0.75 inch for model 8473 probe.
Minimum detectable water level in the tank is 0.38 inch when using TLS 350 with model 8463 A
probe with 88610x-0x0 water float and software version 30B or higher, or TLS 450 with
software version 3A or higher.
Minimum detectable change in water level is 0.005 inch for leak rate of 0,2 gph.
Minimum detectable change in water level is 0.027 inch for leak rate of 0.1 gph. F
Minimum detectable change in water level in tank is 0.01 inch when using TLS 350 with
model 8463 probe with 88610x-0x0 water float and software version 30B or higher, or TLS
450 with software version 3A or higher.
Calibration Thermistors and probe must be checked and, if necessary, calibrated in accordance with
manufacturer's instructions.
Comments Not evaluated using manifolded tank systems. Therefore, this certification is only applicable
when there is a probe used in each tank and the siphon is broken during testing.
Tests only portion of tank containing product.
As product level is lowered, leak rate in a leaking tank decreases (due to lower head
pressure).
Consistent testing at low levels could allow a leak to remain undetected.
EPA leak detection regulations require testing of the portion of the tank which routinely
contains product.
California regulations require at least one test per month after routine product l
delivery or when the tank is filled to within 10% of the highest operating level of
previous month. If the 0.1 gph test is used as a tank tightness test there must be 1
no water present in the backfill (groundwater must be below the bottom of the
tank),the tank must be equipped with an overfill protection device, and the
product level in the tank must be at the overfill protection device set point. Local
agency pre-approval is required. To use the 0.1 gph test as a monthly option see `
title 23 CCR Section 2643 (b)(2).
Veeder-Root Evaluator: Ken Wilcox Associates '
125 Powder Forest Dr. Tel: (816)443-2494
Simsbury, CT 06070-2003 Dates of Evaluations: 06129198,
Tel: (860)651-2700 (Revised 4117102, 2129108)
E-mail: dhallaC@veeder.com
URL: www.veeder.com
Home I Vendors: A-F I Vendors: G -M Vendors: N -S I Vendors: T -Z C Method Index
Appearance on this list is not to be construed as an endorsement by any regulatory agency nor is it any
guarantee of the performance of the method or equipment.
Equipment should be installed and operated in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
For full details, please refer to our expanded "DISCLAIMER"page.
1-ittp://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water issues/progranis/Lrst/leak preventioiAg113/vendors/... 1/21/2014
