t, .
Aqua Terra Technologies
• with Lonestar No. 3 washed sand.
A bentonite seal, approximately two feet thick, was placed
above the sand. The annulus above the seal was backfilled
with a thick, cement/bentonite grout. Tremmie methods were
used to place the grout. The well was completed
r^ approximately 20 inches above-grade. The well head was
.: secured by a locking well cap and protected by steel
bollards. Well details are presented on the boring log in
r7 Appendix 1.
I :
The well was developed using a dual hose airlift pump system.
r, The equipment used to develop the well was steam cleaned
prior to its use in the well. Approximately 135 gallons of
water were removed during well development.
Contaminated Materials Control
Soil cuttings from the boring were placed in an open area
near the boring and covered with plastic. The water
generated by well development was discharged onto the ground
surface, approximately 300 feet from the well.
Groundwater Sampling
On May 23 , 1986, the groundwater monitoring well was sampled
using a three-foot Teflon bailer which was steam cleaned
prior to use. The well was bailed of approximately five to
ten well casing volumes to remove stagnant water in the well
r and ensure the collection of a representative sample. Water
removed from the well prior to sampling was discharged to the
ground surface. The water level in the well was then allowed
to equilibrate before the groundwater sample was collected.
j ' The groundwater sample was collected in one liter glass
bottles fitted with Teflon lined closures and immediately
placed on ice.
I '. SAMPLE ANALYSIS
LJ
The soil and groundwater samples were delivered on ice to
California Analytical Laboratories, a laboratory certified by
the State of California Department of Health Services (DHS) .
The samples were accompanied by a Chain of Custody record.
The samples were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) for
total hydrocarbons, and benzene, xylene, and toluene
according to EPA Method 8020 for soil and EPA Method 602 for
water. Analytical laboratory results are presented and
summarized in Appendix 2 .
W .
2
d
