ANALYTICAL METHODS
Benzene _ Xyl ene ` T.oluene/Volatile Hydrocarbons:
A methanol extraction is performed on the sample, which is then analyzed using
the purge and trap technique. Quantitation is performed on a Gas Chromatograph
equipped with a seven foot Carbopack B 60/80 mesh, 1% SP-1000 packed column,
connected to a Photoionization Detector in series with a Flame Ionization
detector.
Positive results- were confirmed on a Gas Chromatograph equipped with a six foot
1.75% Bentone 34, 5% SP2100 100/200 mesh packed column, connected to a
Photoionization Detector (PID), in series with a Flame Ionization Detector
(FID).
PCB's:
Sample extraction is performed according to EPA Method 3540, and analyzed
according to EPA Method 8080 for PCB analysis.
