Box 3765 <br /> San Francisco , California 94119-3765 <br /> Dear John: <br /> With reference to my site inspection of your Lathrop , <br /> California site on March 26th, I feel that the five 12 ,000 <br /> gallon tanks were more than likely installed with the fills <br /> at the east ends , the breathing vents connected to the <br /> tanks ' middle and the suction connected to the tanks ' west <br /> ends . If I am correct , this could cause the precision tests <br /> to have to be inconclusive , particularly the three tanks <br /> that are manifolded together . If it cannot be determined <br /> from the original installer what the exact location of the <br /> tank/vent connection is , I would suggest the installation of <br /> vapor venting lines at the tanks ' western ends prior to the <br /> performance of precision testing . <br /> Assuming we cannot determine the venting situation <br /> prior to the scheduled testing date of April 10th, we can <br /> still perform the tests on the two single 12 , 000 gallon <br /> tanks . If they prove to be inconclusive due to vapor <br /> pockets , it will fairly well assure us that the manifolded <br /> tanks should be mechanically vented . <br /> Unfortunately, this would also mean that the two <br /> southern-most tanks would also have to be vapor relieved and <br /> retested , which would mean a duplication of test charges . <br /> If the tank installer confirms my suspicions , we will <br /> (with your permission) obtain an exact cost and work with <br /> the contractor for the installation of the vapor relieving <br /> tube . <br /> We are going to proceed with assumption that positive <br /> evidence cannot be obtained prior to April 10th and schedule <br /> the two 12 , 000 gallon fuel tanks , the one 6 , 000 gallon fresh <br /> motor oil tank, and the waste oil tank to be tested on April <br /> 10 , 1987 starting at 8 : 00 A.M . <br />!I <br /> We are sending our standard testing agreement to Mr . <br /> George Munson with a copy to you . <br /> 800 262 TEST 166 Frank West Circle Stockton, CA 95206 (209) 466-8036 <br />
