' WHAT TO DO
' If the leak detector trips, you can reset it by simply turning on
one of the gas dispensers of that product type and letting it run
for a minimum of 30 seconds without dispensing fuel from that
' nozzle or any ether of that product type. This pressurizes the
line and resets the detector .
' If the leak detector continues to trip or starts to trip every
morning, CALL THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT 800-924-32273.
If you cannot get the detector to reset or it trips more than
' once, then call the Maintenance Department and shut the product
down that is giving the problem.
' NOTE: You do not have to shut the whole gas island down, just the
product type that is giving you trouble.
' b) TANK BUAGING AND MONITORING EQUIPMENT - This electronic device
continually monitors the inventory in each tank, gas deliveries,
and can go into leak sensing mode. This device also monitors for
any leaks in the tanks, piping, or sump areas. If a leak occurs,
' the monitor shuts off the product flow to the dispensers until
the problem is found and corrected.
' Each store must have a users' manual , know how to use it , and be
using this device. If you do not have a manual , call Maintenance
and have one sent to you
If this device is defective, or you do not know how to use this
device even with the manual , call Maintenance.
' c ) VISUAL INSPECTION - A visual inspection of the gasoline
dispensers is to be done every week. This consists of opening
up the lower panels of each dispenser and visually inspecting any
' leaking gasoline or possible leaking gasoline inside the
dispenser .
If a leak is seen or suspected, turn off that dispenser and call
' Maintenance. A leaking dispenser can lose many gallons of
gasoline and it must be checked regularly.
' d) DOUBLE PIPING - All product and vapor recovery piping is
double contained by means of a pipe within a pipe. If the
' primary piping leaks gas, the secondary piping contains the gas
and it is sloped to drain any of this gas into a sump area where
a probe will sound an alarm. This system would contain any gas
leak from any pipe or dispenser from leaking into the ground.
' INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
' When a call comes in from a store concerning one of the
monitoring devices, the Maintenanc=e Department will send one of
its technicians or will call out a contractor to inspect or
3
