WEISS ASSOCIATES Consulting In Geology 6 Geohydrology
2M McClure Stree4 Oakland, CA 94609 415-465-1100
19 May 1987
Martin Thorpe
Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc.
P.O. Box 357
Lodi, CA 95241-0357
Re: Site Investigation
WA Proposal No. 99-915
Dear Mr. Thorpe:
Weiss Associates (WA) is pleased to submit this proposal for subsurface
investigation at 204 E. Lodi Avenue, Lodi, California. The objective of the
proposed work is to further define the extent of hydrocarbons in soil and
ground water adjacent to and under a fuel storage tank excavation.
On 23 January 1987, a 550-gallon underground fuel storage tank in the
southeast corner of the Jim Thorpe Oil facility was excavated and removed by
Jim Thorpe 011, Inc. The excavation was witnessed by Laurie Cotulla of the
Environmental Health Division of the San Joaquin Local Health District
(SJLHD) . Soil samples were collected during excavation. Analysis of the
samples indicated the presence of hydrocarbons at 1400 parts per million (ppm)
total fuel hydrocarbons (TFHC) , 18 ppm xylene and 270 ppm toluene. Ground
water was encountered between 17 and 20 feet below grade during the tank
excavation. We recommend the following workscope to further define the extent
of hydrocarbons around the tank excavation:
A Diulskn of Aguanema A4imld(cs Incorporated
