It is Important not to drag or step on
the flexible piping during Installation. The flexible piping should be Muted in
such a manner that all turns have more than an 18' (450mm) bend radius. It
is recommended the carton be placed In the sunlight several hours before
measuring and cutting the pipe, so the pipe may relax for easier extension
when measuring. In cold weather the flexible pipe will become less flexible.
See right for cold weather installation inslruclions.
Measuring Rope
The one hundred foot (31m) Measuring Rope is used to measure the proper
length of a pipe section which Interconnects one containment sump to the
next. This rope Is fitted with two hooks on one and of the rope. The first hook
called the 'Boot Hook" is installed B' (200mm) from the and of the rope. This
Is used for attachment to the Flexible Entry Boot to secure the rope
10
Cold Weather Installations
During cold temperatures it may be necessary to store the pipe indoors
in a warm area for several hours prior to measuring and cutting the pipe.
If that is not possible, then a hair dryer may be used to wenn up the pipe
by Inserting it into one end of the pipe. Warning: CUT OFF and DO
NOT USE the first 12" (300mm) section of flexible pipe at the end
where the hair dryer was inserted because of possible heat damage.
when measuring the distance between one sump to the next. The second
hook, called the 'End Hook", which Is fitted to the end of the rope, Is used for
attachment to the end opening of the flexible pipe for measuring the length of
a pipe section to be cut. The Measuring Rope is also fitted with a "Marking
Clip' to Indicate the distance between containment sumps.
Measuring Between Containment Sumps
When measuring the distance between containment sumps to determine the section to be measured is to follow. When the first dispenser sump Is
proper length of the pipe section to be cut, the following procedures should be reached lock the *Marking Clip' to the point on the rope which corresponds to
followed. Starting at the tank sump, hook the 'Boot Hook' to the inside the outside opening o1 the the installed Flexible Entry Boot. Note: The
opening of the installed Flexible Entry Boot (not the "End Hook') then lay the distance from the 'Boot Hook' to the "End Hook' is equal to twice the
rope down into the trench In the same position that the flexible pipe distance from the Pipe Fitting to the outside of the Flexible Entry Boot.
Sump
End Hook
Boot
Hook
Measuring Rope
Measuring The Flexible Pipe Section
After the measurement between the tank sumps has been completed take the
measuring rope to a clear and flat area where the roll of flexible piping is
located. Extend the roll of flexible piping out in a straight length. Attach the
'End Hook' of the Measuring Rope Into the end opening of the flexible pipe and
extend the length of rope down the length of the flexible pipe until the 'Marking
Clip' is reached. At this point mark the flexible pipe for cutting. Repeal these
same procedures for all flexible pipe sections to be out and coupled.
Marking Clip
N
Sump
IMPORTANT
When cutting pipe to length, always allow sufficient
slack of no less than 1 % of the total measured length.
