0
Pipe Routing
The type of pipe routing design selected is dependent on the quantity and
orientation of the dispensers, the type of system (either pressure or suction)
and the layout of the facility. One constant design requirement is that all
Piping runs between containment sumps be continuous. Single and dual
Piping lines may be used depending on the total quantity of dispensers to
be serviced and the location and orientation of the islands. The pipe routing
design criteria for GeoFlex Piping System is considerably different than that
of conventional rigid piping.. -For either new or retrofit Installations good pre-
installation planning is a must to Insure a proper and hydraulically efficient
installation.
Design Criteria
When designing and installing GeoFtex Piping Systems use the following design criteria to insure that the piping system meets Environ's requirements:
1 FI
exible piping turns should not be less than an 24" (450mm) bend
radius. Piping trenches should be cut with sweeping turns.
2. For flexible piping systems which have piping crossovers, install the
Crossover Supports at each Intersection.
3. All flexible piping runs should be continuous, each beginning and ending
within a containment sump.
4. It is not necessary to have continuous fall back to the lank for pressure
type piping systems which are routed in series if the Liquid Interstitial
Monitoring System is installed.
S. For a pressure piping system using single piping runs routed In series, no
more than a total of six dispensing nozzles should be serviced with a
1-1/2" single piping line to prevent unacceptable product flow rates.
6. If GeoFtex Piping is used for vent lines, make sure there is adequate fall
back to the lank from the vent stack.
7. The dispensing product sequence will alternate from one dispenser to the
next when "loop-arounds" are used. Pipe Crossovers are recommended
at these points to correct the change in product sequence in -series'
routing of pressure piping systems.
Series Routing
For "Pressure Piping Systems' the most effective routing design for flexible pipind Is 'series routing', which means directly interconnecting the underground
storage lank to the dispensers by running from one dispenser to the next, without Interruption. The example layout below shows two methods of "aeries routing'.
Single Piping Lines
Dual Piping Lines
A, ,
f®31 III
o
