(See Figure 7-1 and 7.1 A). In
multiple tank installations, each tank will require two deadmen.
The minimum spacing between tanks must be equal to twice the
width of a single deadman. One deadman may be used between
two tanks if it is doubled in width. Provide a separate anchor point
for each holddown strap.
ANCHOR SLAB
An anchor slab is a reinforced concrete base. The total length of
the slab must be at least the same as the tank. The minimum slab
thickness is 8 inches. The width of the slab depends on the tank
diameter. Refer to Table 7-1 for specific dimensions. Refer to Table
7.2 and Figure 7-2 for anchor point dimensions. Provide a separate
anchor point for each holddown strap. When using a concrete base
slab, allow sufficient depth in the excavation for 12 inches of
bedding material below the tank. (Figure 7-3).
0
TABLE 7.2
FIGURE 7-2
FIGURE 7-3
HOLDDOWN STRAPS
Xerxes FRP straps must be used when a tank is to be anchored
The location of holddown straps for each tank is marked on the
tank by the arrow (><) symbol. Complete data for holddown
straps are given in Table 7-2 and Figure 7.2.
Q CAUTION:
Place the straps only in the locations designated by the arrow
symbol (><).
To evenly distribute buoyancy loads, tighten all holddown straps
uniformly until they are snug over the ribs but cause no deflection
of the tank. Make an intermediate measurement of the tank
diameter AFTER the straps have been installed and tightened.
ANCHORING DIMENSIONS
TANK
DIAMETER
"A"
"B"
"C"
.
