Common Hazardous Wastes Generated by Gasoline Facilities <br /> I. Used Absorbents—Absorbents (absorbent pads or kitty litter)used to clean up <br /> spills of petroleum or other hazardous materials. The absorbents must be <br /> stored in a sealed, labeled container. Under no circumstances may used <br /> absorbents be dried and/or disposed of in the trash, burned, buried, or otherwise <br /> disposed of unlawfully. <br /> 2. Used Filters from Dispensers—Used fuel filters must be managed as <br /> hazardous waste based upon their characteristics of toxicity and/or ignitability. <br /> They must be stored in a sealed,properly labeled container, and manifested <br /> offsite for proper disposal. Under no circumstances may used filters be dried <br /> and/or disposed of in the trash, burned, buried, or otherwise disposed of <br /> unlawfully. <br /> 3. Water Removed From Sumps—If water that has accumulated in sumps is <br /> contaminated(petroleum sheen), it must be managed as a hazardous waste. 7- <br /> Eleven Dispatch must be contacted to have water removed from sumps. Liquid <br /> hazardous waste must be stored in sealed,properly labeled containers, and <br /> manifested off-site for proper disposal. Under no circumstances may water <br /> from sumps or spill containers be disposed of on the ground or to storm water <br /> systems. <br /> 4. Water Removed From Gasoline Tanks—An alarm condition on the <br /> Automatic Tank Gauge indicating that water has accumulated in the tanks <br /> requires that the operator contact 7-Eleven Dispatch to have the water removed. <br /> Water removed from gasoline tanks must be stored in sealed, properly labeled <br /> containers and manifested off-site for proper disposal. <br />
